Christian Education for Children and Youth

Christian Education for children and youth will begin on Sunday, September 9, during the first part of the 10AM service. On this first day, all children will begin downstairs in their classes and come upstairs at the time of the Baptism of Ian James McGibney. We will have the  commissioning of teachers right after the Peace. Parents are invited to visit classrooms and meet the teachers before the service.

Kirtani Mathauer will lead the younger children's class, those from age 3 to grade 5. The curriculum is the second year cycle of All Things New. It teaches children about the stories of the Bible through interesting and fun activities, music, games, and crafts. We will focus on prayer, hearing and sharing faith stories, and stewardship. Older children will take on a leadership and mentoring role for the younger members of our faith community during class. Parent volunteers are always welcome.

Stephanie Miraglia will continue to lead the teens as they gather for fellowship. They have become a strong cohesive group over the past several years, and we value their contributions to parish life. Most of these teens will be preparing  for Confirmation with Saturday morning  classes during September. David and Peggy will continue to lead them in their faith journey, as we all prepare for the Bishop's visit on October 7.

Stacey Franklin will continue to watch over the smallest of our members in the open nursery. We treasure her willingness to minister in this way.

We are looking forward to a good year, with learning and excitement for everyone. We plan to include the children and youth in the liturgy on a regular basis. Please feel free to talk to any of  the teachers or Peggy if you have questions about our program or want to volunteer as a helper.
