Church School Curriculum for Children and Youth

Classes for children and youth will resume on January 10 during the first part of the  10 AM service. Children ages 3 through grade 5 will continue to use materials from the Virginia Theological Seminary curriculum. Both classes will be learning about Baptism, beginning with the story of John the Baptist. The lessons will focus on what Baptism means, how it helps people  belong to the church, and then how it relates to the celebration of Easter in the  spring. Erinn will be sending out a description of the curriculum to all families which will list topics for each week.

The middle school/youth class will be folowing the Episcopal Curriculum for Youth focusing on Christians Build Community. They will read and discuss stories of people from scripture who struggled to build a community of believers in the midst of persecution and conflict. They will explore how they are called to be Christians in the community of faith in their lives.

A community service project will be explored and chosen by the children and youth to complete during this segment of their study. We are looking for a parent volunteer who might be willing to help with such a  project. Please see one of the teachers or Peggy if you would like to help. As always, we welcome parent participation!
